Employee Spotlight: Alexander Nesler

Hello, Alexander. Please introduce yourself and briefly describe your professional experience and current role at Weidmann.

Hello, my name is Alexander Nesler, and I am the Director Sales Diagnostics at Weidmann Medical Technology. I studied plastics engineering and business and have been working in sales for about 8 years. My in-depth understanding of plastics engineering, combined with my medical expertise, helps me to guide Weidmann Medical Technology through the extremely diverse and demanding diagnostics market. Together we are pursuing an incredible number of opportunities and possibilities.

What attracted you to Weidmann Medical Technology?

Weidmann is a stable family-owned business with an eye toward the future. Here, innovation and steady growth are top priorities. Nevertheless, employees come first, and this is reflected in every decision.

What are some key responsibilities and/or challenges for the Director Sales Diagnostics position?

I have overall responsibility for the diagnostics division, specifically strategic development, selecting key accounts, and determining how we can best utilize our resources. This involves building my own team to handle current and future tasks. Managing expectations is another key part of my role. I live by one guiding principle: You can never communicate too much, internally and externally.

As far as challenges, most of our current projects require inspired development plans, highly complex tools, and advanced automation systems. Thanks to our outstanding technical team and robust network of suppliers, we can address these challenges and provide support in every situation.

Could you summarize the current diagnostics market and how Weidmann is positioned?

There are several things we are tracking in the rapidly evolving market. We are seeing some interesting developments, particularly in the field of qPCR, and mass spectrometry is also set to bring about major changes.

Adhering to strict technical and scalability regulations is more important than ever, and Weidmann Medical Technology prioritizes it in everything we do. We make every effort to implement solutions based on new technical developments within published guidelines. This requires close collaboration with tooling suppliers and injection molding machine manufacturers.

Automation and industrial readiness are critical factors in ensuring attractive manufacturing conditions in a location like Switzerland. This has always been one of our distinguishing features: our ability to innovate processes with quick decisions.

Wiedmann’s ability to deliver the same quality in both Europe and North America is also crucial to our success. More customers are counting on exactly this, and we can set up production facilities in North America that are identical in design to our existing ones in Europe. We have worked hard for this accomplishment.

With a strong market outlook and significant opportunities in molecular diagnostics, point-of-care applications, and new technologies requiring highly precise and scalable manufacturing solutions, Weidmann Medical Technology is ideally positioned for growth and success.
